They then continued to pressure the visitors although the flow of play was quite scrappy. On the half hour Bournemouth lost their forwards coach and second row Tim Collier to a yellow card. A resultant strong scrum released the ball cleanly and Jack Maslen sniped his way through the static defenders to make it 10-0 with the conversion.
A poor restart allowed Worthing to scrum again and scrum half Billy Toone shifted the ball to his threes for Jack Maslen to touch down. Score 17-0 as Matt McLean converted. Next, as half time approached, a home line-out saw Will Stutchbury send Billy Toone away. The link with Ben Dudley released Darren Clayton and Rob Smith up the middle and Alex Neilsen, at full throttle, finished with a perfect wingers try outside his opposite number.
Score 24-0 at half time with the conversion.
In the second half Bournemouth pitched their tents along the gain line in a sort of damage limitation mode but Worthing straightened up through the forwards and Charlie McGowan drove over out wide on the left. A huge conversion by Matt took the tally to 31.
The visitors showed for a while after that but, on 64 minutes, Worthing broke out up the centre and a scrum on the 10 metre line fed replacement scrum half, under 19 Jordan Burns. He picked up pace and touched down out wide on the right. Matt converted beautifully and the tally moved to 38.
Some honest toil in the heat allowed Bournemouth forwards to score next through Tom Dunn and they added a further try on 81 minutes by Ben Featherstone. Both expertly converted by Ben Stevenson. The score now 38-14.
However Worthing finished off with try number 7 by Ollie Luke, under the posts, following another run by Jack Maslen.
Final score 45-14.
